15th annual Chili Cook-off and Barn Dance Feb. 19-21, 2016

Join us at the 15th annual Chili Cook-off and Barn Dance, slated for Feb. 19-21 at the Ellis County Expo Center in Waxahachie. The event benefits the Gingerbread House children’s advocacy center and is its largest fundraiser of the year.

The event features three days of CASI-sanctioned chili competition (Friday-Sunday), along with junior, local/novice and bean competitions on Saturday. Admission is free for all three days of the chili cook-offs.

Saturday night features the annual Barn Dance with dancing and a prime rib dinner. Table sponsorships and individual tickets are available; these must be purchased in advance. Sponsorship levels are platinum ($2,500), gold ($1,000), silver ($500) and bronze ($250). Individual tickets are $62.50 each.

Activities during the Barn Dance include conclusion of the giant silent auction, drawing for several cash prizes and the drawing for the $10,000 Visa gift card giveaway. Tickets for the Visa gift card giveaway are $100 each; only 300 are being sold and are on sale now. The winner need not be present to win.

Additional details of the event are as follows:

Friday – Gates open at 10 a.m., with turn-in time for CASI chili at 8 p.m. ($18 entry).

Friday – The evening’s activities include three cash drawings (two for $100 and one for $50). No purchase is necessary; however, the winner must be present to win. The silent auction opens and concessions will be available.

Saturday – Gates open at 8 a.m. with turn-in time at 1 p.m. for CASI chili ($20 entry), local/novice chili ($16 entry), 50/50 beans ($10 entry) and CASI junior ages 8-17 chili ($10 entry). The silent auction continues, with concessions available throughout the day.

Saturday – The Barn Dance runs from 6:30 p.m.-midnight, with music provided by The Marshall Argovitz Experience (DJ/emcee). The prime rib dinner is served from 7-8:30 p.m., with concessions available until midnight. The silent auction closes at 10 p.m.

As always, volunteers are needed throughout the weekend to assist with the event, including chili judges, concession stand workers and silent auction assistants.
